Ok im new at this so if my questions sound stupid, you will know why. I recently bought my first boat and the tach is not working. Im trying to troubleshoot it myself. There is a wiring harness that comes from the throttle control unit(whatever it is called) and goes to the tach ( Faria 0 - 8000 rpm). There are two wires hanging and three connected. The three are connected to the pos neg and signal. But how do i know if it is right? I want to make sure the previous owner connected it right but i have no way of knowing which wire goes where. Are there wiring manuals that could help solve this?. Is it a Faria wiring harness or Mercury Quicksilver harness? All reference to harnesses seems to be from the engine not the throttle control unit. The boat is a 1975 v173 Glastron with a merc 115 4 cyl 2 stroke. I have looked everywhere on the net and it doesnt seem the manufacturers have much support for past products. Thanx in advance for your responses.

Re: Tach wiring.

Quicksilver harness.. Get hold of a service manual for the engine.. The wiring diagram should be in there... ;)
