Tachometer for 79' Chrysler 75hp outboard?

I want to install a tachometer on our pontoon boat but I'm not sure what to look for. Do I need a special type of tachometer or will any one work? When I pulled off the engine cover there is a spot where all of the wires hook up labeled tachometer.

If it has a distributor, then you can use a regular tachometer. If it does not have one, then you need a 20 pole tachometer.
