Is it easy to add a tachometer? Could a novice proceed with the job? I really don't want to pay a dealer 70USD/hr to install if I could do it myself. Is it simply a matter of connecting to existing wiring on the powerhead?

Re: tachometer install

It's a fairly straight forward job.. Get a good quality tach and it will have the necessary instructions on how to install...

Three wires, ignition +, negative/ground -, and sender... Actually, four wires, if you hook up the light... :)

The wire for the tach signal may already be in the wiring harness in the shift/throttle control box or near the key switch.. May be just a matter of plugging a connector into the control box.. If the wire is not there in the harness, it's still not a problem, just have to fish a wire from the dash to the engine...

I'd highly advise looking thru a service manual first, specifically the wiring diagrams..
