Tachometer (Johnson outboard)??

I need to replace the Tach for my 1979 70 HP Johnson outboard and I think it uses the 6-pulse setting am I correct??Thanks Heath

Heath.... You are correct, the tach operates off of a six (6) pulse setting.

While on the subject, I have a 79 Evinrude 70, with no Tach. Is this something I can add? Is it worth adding?
