tachometer problem. how do i connect a new one

Well ok guys .i bougth this blat that came with an evenfude 1987 spl 88 and cant find where to conect it at the motor there is a grey wire that comes from the motor but the gauge is still not working ..the new gauge has three prongs one is ing, send, and ground but i dont see a wire from the ingnition switch to connect it to how can do this help please....thanks

Any other gauges? Each of them, except the speedometer, should have both a battery negative (black is standard) and switched battery positive (could be one of several colors). Connect the tach to the corresponding terminals on t?e closest gauge.

Look just below the ignition switch on the throttle/shift control box. There should be a three pin connector there. +12 volts with key on, ground, and send. I think you can buy the connecting cable right here on IBoats, or if you have an imagination, you can make your own harness with terminal pins from Radio Shack..
