My radio blew up in the boat last year and took the rectifier with it. So the gauges were not working. I replaced the rectifier and the gauges came back except the tach. it sits around 7000 RPM .. it does bounce around some but thats it. Is it fried ??

Re: Tachometer problem

Quicksilver tachs, and I guess others as my current one doesn't say QS on it anywhere, zero (to within 50 rpm) upon application of power. This is a tach thing, nothing to do with the engine. If yours doesn't yes to your question.

Recently bought a QS from local Merc dealer (0-8k rpm) for $88. Not bad.
