Tachometer question

I want to pick up a small tach for my 30hp Mariner. It's a 1995 2 cylinder 2 stroke. I mainly want it for when doing work on it or checking props out. I've seen some small automotive ones that say they work on on all 4-6-8 cylinder cylinder engines. Would they work on a two cylinder? I asked at the store and the guy didnt even have a clue. I cant see why they wouldn't but thought I'd ask.

Thanks
Tim

Re: Tachometer question

Go to tinytach.com. I just purchased one for a 25HP Merc. The TT226R-2XL is for a two stroke multicylinder engine. Cost $36.95 plus shipping. I plan to mount mine on the tiller handle. Very simple to install.

They have digital mini-tachs there as well that work on anything with spark plugs
I bought one and it's great
