Got a merc 4.3lxgen+
Engine was not starting when warm. Relaced coil, cap, rotor and ignition sensor to make sure. Working like a dream. New tachometer was working prior to above works. Now registers at 800 to 1000 constant even when engine off! Any ideas?
All wires replaced as was (I think) apart from black cable on new sensor (old one didn't have one). Connected black cable to engine block using connected ring thing.

Some of the new tachometers only go to 0 when the key is on--Bob

Yeah. I will trace back and make sure all connections are good. No cables attached to coil so presume will be going back to wiring loop. Beyond there I have little idea of where signal is coming from and what alternative bits may go wrong.
