hey all,

my 707HD (70 HP 3 cyl 2 cycle) Chsyler engine (MFG 1971) had a blown ignition last season.. after a new CD box and some points clean up and a good, old carb rebuild, it was running beauitfully. I just realized, when setting it up on my new hull, that it has no active TACH circut... any idea how I can make one or something...

Re: Tachometer

Manufactured 1971? Distributor ignition? White wire from the CD box. You will see that the white wire under the dash is not used. It will be signal for tachometer. Use a 12 pole tachometer and set the switch on the back to "3".

Hmm.. the new CD box doesn't have a white wire,,, that's what led me to believe that it doesn't actually have a tach circut. Is that possible?

PS -- where are you in SEPA?

Re: Tachometer

Most aftermarket replacment CD boxes DO NOT have a tach circuit like the OEM boxes. Your options are somewhat limited. Many folks on here have tried the "Tiny Tach" that is inductive and pulls signal from the #1 plug wire.
