my mom has a 2010 tacoma with an auto tranny in it. i wanna buy it from here when she goes to sell it to make a mud truck but i was wondering if i could swap the auto tranny for a manual one since there is a manual tranny made for that truck?

I sincerely hope you have really really deep pockets. The cost is not worth the result and you would be better off selling the 2010 (great resale value) and getting another toyota with a standard.

It is allot more then a transmission........ it will involve the transfer case, a new ECU and LOT's more parts.

Not a cost effective idea on a 2010 model year.

I agree with Bob_VT. Its enough of a project doing it on an old American mucsle car never mind adding in computers and all kinds of wiring harnesses.

Yea, probably not worth it unless you could find a low milage wreck at a pick and pull which would never happen for a 2010 but chances are, 'Yota used the same manual trans+ gear for quite a few years, or at least a trans that will work... ECU MIGHT not be an issue as some brands use an identified ground pin to switch the ECU into M/T mode and shut off the TCU communication..

But for as cheap as Tacoma's can be had, just buy the M/T truck. It WILL be cheaper unless your mom partially gifts you the truck and you pay way less than book value
