2014-05-05 11.58.47.jpgI bought a used bass tracker 2003 pro crappie 175 with an all welded hull. Runs n rides great. Problem is the two times I've had it out the bilge begins filling with water. Yes I have the center drain plug in and it still keeps coming. My question is that on each side of the center drain are my screened intakes for the livewells. On each side of those are two black rubber booted holes that are threaded it seems on the inside. I called tracker marine and the sales guy says I should only be plugging the center drain hole. He also says he has no idea what the other holes are for. Big help huh? Anyway at the river Saturday only second time out same problem. Something told me to try n plug the extra two holes. Guess what? NO water! Bilge completely dry. Does anybody have a clue?

As a guess drains for the live wells and you have a line pulled off or a broken fitting.

From center out: bilge drain, live well intakes, live well drain.....
you have plumbing issues in the boat

Do you have an aluminum deck in this boat?... and if so, is it welded in place?

If your decking is plywood it can be easily removed and you can trace all of your plumbing, if your deck is welded in aluminum... keep plugging the threaded holes.

once again you ask the right people the right question and they give the wrong answer. Happens everywhere, doesn't it?

Your obviously taking in water through the exhaust ports for your livewells. Start checking all of your hoses, fittings, clamps, etc. You've probably got a leak in one or both. Try alternately plugging one and then the other to narrow down which line is leaking. My guess is that it's close to the transom since water shouldn't be traveling too far up the line

This has to be the most helpful post I've ever read. Thanks for sharing.

I was comiserating with the OP's comment that he tried to find the answer from the manufacturer and got no help ("I called tracker marine and the sales guy says I should only be plugging the center drain hole. He also says he has no idea what the other holes are for. Big help huh?")
I am finding that in everything I do, not just boating, the people who ought to know about the business or agency they work for, seldom know the right answer and will gladly give you the wrong answer.

I wasn't commenting on my fellow iboats posters, who are always right.

Its a wooden deck. I will pull it up and trace it out. You guys are right, you think the people that build a boat would know!

Very typical of Tracker. They build em to sell. I can say this because I have one myself.

On what terms are you with the previous owner, maybe they know something about this? OR could be the reason the boat was for sale

It is a 2003 model, lots of hands could have participated in causing this problem prior to this purchase.
