Taking on water

I have a 1990 fourwinns with a OMC cobra outdrive and I have water coming in through the ujoint boot exhaust boot area. I remove the outdrive and changed these boots, but water only comes in when you are driving the boat in reverse. Whats left transom seal? If so what do I do next.

I had the same problem with a 120 OMC and Cobra outdrive. I found that the water was coming in through the transom seal. All I did to correct the problem was to tighten the four bolts that holds the outdrive to the transom. The two top ones a very easy to get at but the two bottom onea are a chalange but not an uncermountable task. I think that I had to use an open end wrench on the bottom bolts.<br /><br />Darryl
