I have a 1972 Silverline Comoro that has a rotten transom and was trying to figure out how to get the top (cap) off to get access to the transom. Has any one ever done that on this type of boat before?

no experience with that boat but generally remove the rub rail and the screws under it

This will be moved to restoration, there are tons of guys down there that do this all the time.

but yes , there is generally a rub rail that goes around the boat, you need to find the end of that and pull it out being very carefull not to tear it up so you don't have to replace it, there should be a line of rivets under that that need drilled.

I would go to the resto forum and get some tips and hint before I started personally.

I haven't removed the cap on mine, but the rub rail on my Comoro connects at the stern (I/O - if yours is an outboard it might be different) just over the drive. Watch your hardware up front - my whole bowrider looks to be molded into the top cap.

Everything on the Comoro is heavy ... be prepared for the cap to be heavy for it's size too.
