Im looking to upgrade my existing engine on my RIO fish 700, does anyone know if the 230hp is going to occupy the same space as the 200? Thanks all, corinna

What's the model number of the 230? If it's still the 41 series engine, it's the same block.

Foot print is the same for 41 and 42/43. Package is wider up top because of compressor and air box assy.

Re: Tamd41 b

Thanks Don and Vosman, I have yet to find a 230, decided to upgrade to improve fuel consumption. Last week i hit a submerged gas bottle at 16 knots and minced my prop and did some damage to the hull.Wont engage forward/reverse either. As I have to take out the engine to replace the inverter I figure its time to change the engine too!Cost of the inverter is about 6000 euros, reckon i can get hold of a recon engine for about that price.@vosman, any idea how much wider the 42/43 is up top? im already tight with the 41...thanks guys

Alternator is above port front mount but inside mount outside line.Problem is starboard side. From center line of engine to outside of compressor and airbox is 17.2" that is about 6" out from mount centerline. Hope this helps.

Re: Tamd41 b

Vosman thankyou. I already have the problem that to service my alternator i would need to find a mechanic about 12 inches tall, i'll get the measurements of my engine bay later on .to clarify my situation, i am NOT expert in any way, just need to know if this upgrade is possible before i start looking for a replacement.plus all depends on my insurance coming through.Italian mechanics are without doubt charming, but when they tell me 'dont worry'....i begin to worry!

If you are running an outdrive, 42/43 runs a different ratio than the 41. Make sure to check. Inboard gear is not a problem.
