I was wondering how many layers of fiberglass should I use to tape the deck to the hull ?

I have glued and screwed the floor down and also kept a little lip of the old floor.

I will be using polyester resin and CSM

Boat is 18' bow rider with OMC I/O

Also due to the fact that the marine shop will not be able to align the engine for me for an other week or so is there a home made Idea if I don't have an alignment tool ?
can it be done ?
or should I just wait ?
I am just a little anxious !!

P.S I just ordered an alignment tool today from ebay but who knows how long it will take to get here.

Thank you

I know you want to get back in the water but I'd wait until it was properly aligned. You risk doing a lot of damage to your coupler if you push the process. I always like knowing something is done right instead of waiting for something to break.

Re: Taping the deck to the hull and engine alignment?

if you are using csm.......the three weights most common are 3/4, 1, and 1.5 oz.........not enough...!!!

two layers of csm....plus a woven product.....8 oz finishing veil.....or better yet.....at least one 1708 layer...(25 oz biax) two layers of 1708 is common for a deck to hull tab

the csm alone will encounter sheer stress....and its not designed to hold like that.....you really need a woven product for that application.....wally world sells the stuff that will do the job in small packages.

as far as the alignment tool....its 2300 if you mess it up.....but im sure our gurus on the i/o forum can walk you right thru it
