Target Does not Sell Swimming trunks in July!

I went to target today, looking for Bug bombs and swimming trunks. They had neither. They had gotten rid of all of their swimsuits, I guess getting ready for winter in July!
Every time I go to Target I leave disapointed. The last 3 times I went there, they did not have what I wanted.
They are just as big as Wal-Mart, but have 1/2 the stuff on the shelf. Seriously, walmart packs out a shelf, while Target just tries to make the shelf look full with as little stuff as possible.

So I went to Wal-Mart (where I should have went in the first place) and they had both items. Target needs to figure it out. They just have no selection what so ever. All they are good for is unique home furniture.

And why can't you but sweat pants in January? I hate how stores prepare for a season, before the current one is even half way over.

Been wondering this myself for quite sometime.
I guess its the same reason that you can buy a christmas tree in October.

I feel your pain. Several years ago I went looking for a window mounted A/C unit. Now mind you this is the beginning of August that I was looking for one. When I couldn't find one looking by myself at a local Home Depot, I asked one of the friendly salesmen, who looked at me like I just asked him if the sky was orange. "We don't have any of those. They're all gone, we aren't ordering any more till next year" I mumbled under my breath "Yeah why would you have any of those, its only the beginning of August" Naturally I left, went to Wal-Mart, and bought a 10,000 BTU LG for about the same price that Home Desperate would have wanted for a 6,000 btu.

Right now, I'm thinking that they're starting to clear out summer stuff to make room for fall and winter. For those of us who live up north, anyway.
Same reason you can't get a decent winter coat around here in February- that's when they start piling on the swimwear!
I noticed target has their back to school stuff out already, and has for a number of weeks- heck it's still July (for a little while, anyway).

I've seen it myself. Try to buy gloves and a winter hat in Chicago in February. But all the stores are carrying swimming suits then!

I had a similar experience last week. I went to Target to buy a 1/2 or 1-gallon thermos-type cooler for my son who has a new job where he's out in the heat all day. Did they have any? No, but the Back To School displays were packed full. Nobody thinks of buying for school in July, I know we never did.

Went to Wal Mart (hate to say so) and they had coolers up to their ears.

I usually prefer Target for generally superior merchandise, but how can it be superior if they don't have the item you want, and a common item at that?

Pfff.....

i never go to Target, web site says it is in stock, not one in any of the local stores. so i just quite wasting and gas on Target.

What idiots shop this early for winter stuff in July? ...oh yeah the same ones who pay 25% more since they are not onsale yet. If you wait for the season you will notice a drop in price

Some stores have to watch their budget and buy what they think will sell and how much of each item to stock; that's why they sometimes run out and can't buy 'till next season. Other stores are almost exclusively venders, sort of like consinement stores, and because they don't buy or own anything, they can stock anything and everything. They only have to pay for it if it's sold.
