Tax Software, Opinions, and purchase every year?

Last year I used H&R Tax Cut for Business to do my partnership return.<br /><br />I find that you have to purchase a new copy each year, You'd think you could just pay a subscription or something to upgrade each year, aparently not.<br /><br /><br />So what is everyone's Favorite of the 2 major players...<br /><br />TurboTax or TaxCut?<br /><br />Needs to be able to do Partnership return and create a K1, only reason I went with TaxCut last year is that's what was in stock at the store I went to.

I've used Taxcut deluxe for years. Been OK for me.

I use TaxActOnline. It costs about 11 dollars and includes the efile.

I always use TurboTax and I like it. I've never tried the others, but I'm sure they're fine.

Noel... I use TurboTax Online... works great, nothing to install on your computer. I have my own small business and my wife does as well so go with the premium version and you are set.<br /><br />Plus they mail you a snail mail message about your account info the following year (just got the letter 2 weeks ago) so you can login and use the info you already have entered.<br /><br />Sean

Used Tax Cut once, then ran the same info through TurboTax. Different result. TurboTax saved me more than its price.<br /><br />Been using TurboTax ever since.

Been using turbotax since 1993.<br /><br />The forms and laws change every year - unreasonable to expect the software maker to absorb all that cost.

I use turbo tax online. The forms change every year, so why buy and install software only to be used once. I like that after the first year the program remembers all of your information so all you have to add are the figures. I did my taxes, federal and state, in about 35 minutes this afternoon. One year I used another service, don't recall which one, but I came back to turbo tax because it was much easier to use. <br /><br />Check your state tax website to make sure they'll accept whatever program you use if you e file.

used them both with the same results. tax cut alittle cheaper so thats what i have been buying the last 3 years. all done with mine already ifact return should be here anyday

I've been using TaxSlayer for the last 3 years and plan on again for this time. It's about $10 bucks. Nothing to download, just enter your data and your federal and state is done. Real happy with them.

turbo tax online. i like how you can actually complete the entire process before you even pay for it. if you were happy with the software, you then pay and file at the end.

I have used Taxcut since 1999. I started for the same reason as you. It was what was in stock at the store. Works fine. After the first year, I use to download it but this year they sent me a copy in the mail around thanksgiving. When I load it all I have to do connect and check for updates and pay for the program.

Sounds like JB is the only one really leaning towards turbo tax.<br /><br />Might give it a try this year and see if it's any more user friendly.

I've been using turbotax for years. $32.99 at costco for both state and federal. It's easy and quick. Plus, it pulls our data from quicken which makes things a lot easier.<br /><br />I'm a little leary of any service that stores my tax data online for the next years use. There's a breach waiting to happen!

Used Turbotax for years on kids returns, Uncle's return, FIL's return, and on some friends returns. Double check my accountant on my return. Have been very pleased with the results of it each and every time.

Turbotax for personal and business returns. Don't use online versions because I want to be able to retrieve data years down the road.<br /><br />Jinx

Currently used TaxCut. Used TurboTax in the mid 90's. One year used both TurboTax and TaxCut just to see if there was a difference. I liked TaxCut and have been using for many years. I prefer to load software and keep on hard drive. This have been very helpful several times when I needed a hard copy of past years returns. I do efiling and TaxCut first offered the rebate.

Turbotax the last three years. Haven't tried any of the others, but more than satisfied with Turbo.

I used to use TurbTax and liked it fine but now that I'm penney-less and unemployed,I get along fine with an online fill-in form from IRS.
