Re: teak wood

I have teak on my boat and thats what I use.. This is the first year I sanded the teak then cleaned it then 3 coats of iol. It needs to be re oiled alot about every 2 weeks if it's in the sun uncovered. The more oiul the better you cant hurt it with to much oil. It's alot of work to keep nice but worth it. I have also preasure washed it before and just reoiled some might not agree but it work. I keep the oil right on the boat so when were done for the day and I stay behind to relax I put another fast coat on. Follow directions and all should go well Good luck

Re: teak wood

I just helped my cousin do this on his boat the teak cleaning soulution works well but be carefull it will stain fiber glass so use a small amount at a time on a sponge or other application tool ie brush make sure the wood is wet prior to putting the cleaner on works alot better. It will look almost black as the cleaner is put on then will turn almost white. Wipe any spillage with a damp cloth or sponge. The other method than re oiling it is to Vanish it with spar varnish. This requires less rework and lasts more than a year especially if you have more than a few small pieces of teak. If you decide to go this Vanishing route I can provide you more details. just email me if interested.
