To make a long story short, my son got an ipod Nano about 6 years ago. It was about twice as big as this current model in the picture below. He got a newer, higher capacity ipod a few years ago and so was letting me use the Nano. I didn't use it much, but it was a good size for me, and I enjoyed it when I did.
He got an email from Apple a short time ago offering to replace it with a new one because of battery/burns issues that became apparent with some of them that had a certain battery in it. Well, his had "that" battery, so we sent it in and the replacement came today.
The new one is the size you can see in the photo, about 1.5" x 1.5". It's nice that it now has twice the capacity (I would guess I was using only about half the memory on the old one), but tell me, what the **** is the point of making it so small that an old guy like me can barely hold it without dropping it....let alone operate the tiny touch screen with my bumbling fat old fingers/thumbs..... and I sure can't read the screen without donning my reading glasses! My 23 year old son has trouble with the touch screen too.
Great. I've saved all that valuable space
, but now I have to remember to lug around the glasses if I use it. If I use it on a walk or while doing some other activity f'rinstance, if I want to listen to something else, I have to stop & dig out the specs to change song/playlist etc. I'm probably more likely to just push the OFF button.
I know the target market for ipods is not old timers like me. But c'mon. Another case of doing something WAY less than practical "just because you can", a step ahead in user un-friendliness if you ask me. And you didn't.
I feel better now.
