I have rebuilt carb, changed all hoses, and adjusted High speed and Idle rich best I can. Have made much improvements to running but it has a tendency to speed up and down in RPM without turning throttle. I am running the fuel lines through the filter on the engine. This I cleaned out and filter is still good. Should I bypass the on-board filter and run straight? Any advise would be appreciated.

what is a onboard filter? do you mean inline filter?

has a tendency to speed up and down in RPM without turning throttle
sound like a timing issue or in this case a sync issue, have you re synchronized your timing advance and carb?

do you have a manual?

Thanks mrcrabs, yes inline filter (chose to run as intended through filter) and seems to pull fuel fine. I posted earlier on backfire issue but have it down to ever so often to never as I have slowly turn by turn worked it out. It now is to a point it idles well. I'm now in process of cleaning and setting points to full paint restore. Being laid-off and finding a silver lining then it means more time to get it finished and take 6yr old out fishing. She asks every weekend when she can take here boat out! Maybe ill start to look for an Eska. I live In San Antonio TX and have never seen one. Thanks for your help.

there you go...thats what this is all about, old farts taking kids fishing....I lost a boy to the drugs...he never became a man...from behind the bullet proof plate glass wiindow he cried "daddy why didn't you ever take me fishin" I hung my head in shame because I had worked my time away and had and just been to busy, now I'm raising his son....and by the grace of God I take him fishing every chance I get. The boy has won several fishing tournaments and he can out fish his grandad any day and hes only 7yrs old
