Ted Williams & Merc. "Super 5" help.

Hi guys. I'm posting this for a friend who has two old motors he's trying to get going again. I've looked around for the parts for these motors but haven't had any luck and was hoping you guys could help!

The first is a Ted Williams 7.5hp, S/N 66600717-3956, Model 574.60607. For this motor I need the shear pin (I think you call it that) for the prop shaft. The one that keeps the prop from freewheeling on the shaft.

The other motor is an old beautiful Mercury "Super 5" 5hp that needs a new pull starter cord. S/N is 520673.

Thanks a bunch, any help is greatly appreciated. And if anyone happens to know the year of these motors that would be very helpful too.

The Ted williams is built by McCulloch for Sears.It is a 66 if it is weedless drive the shear pin is brass and is 5X32 X 61/64.oem part number 77053,standard drive uses 53/32 X 3/4 Stainless pin. #73472.Motors with stainless drive pin use A cushioned prop hub.
The weedless drive appears stubby and shrunken with a curved leading edge.The standard drive is larger and has a more angular leading edge.Manual indicate any appropriately sized shear pin will work but suggests obtaining the correct pin in a timely fashion.
The Merc is a little more difficult to place.There were no Factory published Serial numbers though there are some derived lists around.my list seems to indicate later 52.Model KF5.I believe the early mercs used a recoil starter cable instead of rope.Check at Johns Old Mercury Web Site.For more info and lots of great links.

You can make you own shear pins using brass rod from the big box stores.
