I trash picked the above motor earlier today, it appears to have been sitting for many years outdoors but to my surprise, it fired right up on a shot of premix.
The model number reads 574-59910, and the stickers say Ted Williams/Sears 7.5hp Electric. The starter is mounted on top of the flywheel, its a twin cylinder with a work light built right into the cowl.
The control panel has switches for panel lights, choke, stern light, and running lights. There are two cigar lighters built into the motor's control panel as well.

It has no recoil start that I can see, only the electric start, unless I'm missing something here? I found that part odd. It looks a lot like a buddies older Chrysler 9.8.
The prop is missing all it's blades, but my take is that they were lost in handling as I pulled it from a trash barrel. The one blade was still hanging on a bit when I first grabbed it. The light lens is missing, the starter cables are a pair of old pink jumper cables from the dollar store or something, and the plug wires have more than a full roll of electrical tape on them.

I did a compression check and got 101 on top, and 99 on the bottom.
I was actually surprised that it wasn't seized, let alone the fact that it fired up and had spark. The starter motor is badly rusted but working, it and the top plate it sits on has lost all it's paint and rusted pretty badly, and the single transom clamp is seized, and still has a chunk of transom stuck in it.
(Yeah, they cut the boat to get the motor off! I guess that explains the two empty gallon cans of Bondo that were also in the trash can?)

The model number is 574-59910, is there any way to determine the age of this thing? There is also a -1273 stamped next to the printed serial number on the tag.
According to Sears, it's a West Bend, but I didn't think West Bend had an electric start 7.5HP prior to Chrysler?
