I have a 1987 8hp and a 60hp mariner i took out the oil mixer cleaned out the main aluminum tank then placed a Tee in the fuel line to run off the same tank of gas. Could the 60hp be sucking in to much fuel and maybe grab from the 8hp making my 60 run like this.

( post from few hours ago )

Top cylinder has aluminum fouled spark plug from the piston. The boat was sitting for about 3 years I cleaned out both carbs float pins. Boat runs great in 55 gal bucket of water. Check plugs and they are a little wet., But when under power I get about 3 min the water before the rpm drop from 5000 rpm to 3000 rpm plug fouled with aluminum again (PLUG IS BONE DRY ALUMINUM bottom to cylinders are wett black oil gas look to them.) Boat has a new flywheel, Looks new I say just put on.

Unless you are sucking air, I doubt the tee is causing the issue. I think you need to check the timing on the 60HP motor. Auminum fouling is very serious, and you need to figure out what is wrong before running it. Check compression as well. Did you clean all the carb passages and jets?

Re: Tee in the fuel line

You really need a service manual. Normally you need to set idle pickup timing and max spark advance.
