Been trying to find the topic on braces for kids teeth etc, but can't.
Dental costs down here are about as bad as those in your country.
Thought I would bring to your attention that a lot of Aussies are heading off to the Phillipines for their dental work because the costs, even after the tickets/accomodation/holiday are taken in to account, are still less than back home.
My youngest has a pair of size *** choppers (he could eat a lettuce thru a netting fence) and we are considering taking him up there in a couple of years.
Any one else done it??

Cheers
Phillip

hello
I just made the last payment on my sons braces in january. 5700 smaks. wow. but it has saved him once or twice. he would pull some stupid stunt and I will say I would backhand ya but I got almost 6 grand in them teeth. by then we laugh so its cool. I also hear that southamerica has some good dentists as well.
but remember ya have to go back now and then (every 6 weeks) to adjust them.
good luck and keep posting

Kiwi, Rodbolt brought to light a very good point. My son had to go back to the ortodontist every two weeks to have his braces tightened. This is something you might want to look at. If he can eat corn through a coke bottle neck as you say, he may need to make regular trips back to the dentist. SO, it may not be as cost effective as you think going to the Phillipines for this.

My wife just got thru paying 2500 bucks for for new front teeth.

I really hope my kids dont need braces, they are way too expensive.

I also head Singapore and Hong Kong are good places for that kind of thing. I was thinking of laser surgery on my eyes in one of those places, it is much cheaper.

When working offshore in China, they guys would pick up new perscription glasses in Hong Kong, much cheaper there than in the USA or the UK.

I just finished paying $6,500.00 for my son's braces. Now I'm told my daughter's will run $4,500.00. :( I'm sure glad I don't need a new outboard.

Well I paid $5000 for my daughters smile, and $5500 for my son's. The insurance paid me back $1500 for each, still a lot of money in those two smiles :D My daughter graduated last year and hers came off just in time for graduation. My son's came off last month, graduates this year. Can I go on vacation know?

My wife and I put our twin girls through braces. Whew... what a hunk of change that was!

Since I am retired from the Coast Guard (retired 1996), I had the USCG fix all my teeth up and even do a bridge, all before I retired.

Butch
