I have a 1974 Invader and I am installing a new 17' Teleflex NFB SS151 Rack and Helm. I was ready to install the original steering wheel when I realized I had a problem. The inner diameter of the original steering wheel won't meet up with the new helm key. I contacted the manufacturer about adapter options and he told me there are 2 bushings to choose from, HB0572 and HB0573.

I have no idea which one I should be getting. The inner diameter of the inside of the steering wheel is 1 inch and the diameter of the shaft is 1/2 an inch, or 3/4 of an inch with the key in place. The inner diameter of the steering wheel also seems to be tapered slightly.

Re: Teleflex NFB - Steering Wheel Hub Bushing (Adapter) Question

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Unfortunately, there ain't no adapters for that antique wheel,...

The part #s ya got are to go from the 3/4" tapered to 1" straight, or 1" tapered....

The helm for that wheel ain't been used since the '60s....
It actually was a Square drive, not so much tapered...

Re: Teleflex NFB - Steering Wheel Hub Bushing (Adapter) Question

Thanks for the quick response Bond-o.

Is there any particular wheel I should be looking to buy for that SS151 system, or will just about any wheel do as long as I stick to the specifications required?
