Teleflex Seastar throttle control for a 2003 Bass Tracker Sportjet 175.

I purchased a 2003 Bass Tracker jet boat a week ago and had it in the water yesterday. Everything works great but the shifter. When I shift it to reverse it goes forward also the lock button is very hard to pull out. Love the boat very fast. A.ny ideas.

What brand of motor? Often on Mercs the gears get switched when the waterpump is changed.

When you say Lockbutton, do you mean throttle only button?

Hi, yes it's a merc. It goes forward fine, it's a silver button next to the throttle handle that unlocks it. The model is Tel CH2O50P.

Take the cowl off the motor and observe the shift slider. When you shift it to forward, the slide should move forward. If it moves back, the remote control is configured wrong. A lot of remote controls are made for different motors, which shift differently. They can usually be converted.

if the shift slider moves forward, and the motor goes into reverse, something is wrong with the shift linkage on the motor. I am not real familiar with the jet drives, but is should be obvious if reverse is engaged.
