Hi i have the following steering system as link states
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Boats-marine/Parts-accessories/Other/auction-327818797.htm

Now my question is, i went out to lube the nipples on the engine area etc.. did that so hoped in the boat and before i turned the wheel there was slack in the steering wheel.
is it the wheel or the cable or some thing else, i checked the cable behind the dash and its all tight as. is the cable stretched at all? i dont know whats up.
thanks

That makes no sense to me at all.
Can you try and describe your problem a little better.

Re: Teleflex steering problem

hmmm before i attempted to turn the steering i noticed slack aka.. play in the steering wheel attached to the helm unit. i was told as the cable is SS and the helm is alloy it tends to get worn a bit from useage. so now i may have to buy a new helm unit. wonder if i could get the teleflex no force feed back helm unit only and attach it to the standard cable teleflex supply's to rotary helm units

Re: Teleflex steering problem

OK I think I get it now, you mean there's up & down & sideways movement at the wheel. If that's the case then I think you will need a new helm to fit your existing cable. Finding one could be a problem is it genuine teleflex and have you tried their website?
I believe teleflex took over morse or the other way around and a lot of stuff was discontinued. Hopefully you can sort it out via the teleflex website. Let us know how you go.

Hi there is no up down movement just left to right if you hold it and try to turn it. there should not be any movement or slack at all. so yer will have to buy a new helm unit yerp i think it's Morse cable, it is 4 or 5 years old now. thanks for the feedback :) fed have a good one your way chow
