I have an early (1980) Teleflex gauge on my Chris Craft 260 Stinger, that has 3 pins for the 4, 6 or 8 cylinder selection, with a wire connected to the 8 cylinder pin. the replacement gauge has a rotary switch for 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. What do I do with this wire currently attached to the 8 cylinder pin selection on the original gauge? and if I do not use it, will the replacement tach work, if I move the rotary selection to the 8?

There is an "S" terminal on the tach. Connect it there. The selector switch does what the separate pins did for the old tech.

Silvertip. Thanks, I assume you are referring to the Send terminal. On the back of the replacement tach (Teleflex 54286) are terminals for: LT, Gnd, ING, SEND. I'll try this and let you know. thanks again!
