Tell tale relocation Johnson 3cyl

I'm getting ready to relocate my tell-tale. I can not put it in the very top due to a frost plug. I have 2 other places in mind. Let me know which would be better.

Left side of the block has a boss with a T marked on it.

The right side has a boss with 2 holes already in it. I think I can just finish drilling the hole.

Opinions please.

What's the model number? Some need the conversion, others dont...

Correct ,------ I do not believe it needs to be changed on the 49 cube engine.----Year and model # should be posted.

Motor model # J75TRLCIM

The tell-tale is right at the bottom of the exhaust jacket.

I would not do that modification on the 81 model 49 cube engine !!

Tthe Tell tale relocation was on 86 and newer 56 cid blocks ONLY!

Ok thanks guys. I just figured with the tell-tale at the bottom it would help evacuation of air and also help get the block drained better in the fall when I duck hunt.

I do not think there is a problem.----After all the motor is 37 years old now.-----But it is your motor so do what makes you feel good.

I'm pretty sure it's had over heating problems in the past. When I got it the pump impeller was bad. The little pop off valves next to the thermostat we're melted. There were other wires and plastic parts warped and melted. I checked the thermostat and it is opening like it's supposed to. I'm just trying to make sure it doesn't happen again. It is cooling fine now so if the tell-tale doesn't need to be moved I won't bother. I'm probably going to put a pressure gauge on it. Now to chase fuel issues.
