Ok so this may end up being a odd or dumb question but i ask none the less. My over heat sensor is broken on my 85 5hp force. So i was thinking is it possible to find a temp sensor from some aftermarket place that fits the hole and tells the water temp.. Screw it into that hole where the sensor is now and hook it up to a water temp gauge? I was trying to hunt down a bolt on the side of the block temp gauge. However i am having trouble locating one at this current time with long enough leads. I found a few but the lead cannot be cut and spliced. I was told that interfers with and changes the reading. I was just wanting to get something in my line of sight saying i wasnt over heating. I have a "pee" hole and i know if water is coming out of it then i am most likely ok. I was just wanting a little more peace of mind. Thanks for any suggestions you all may have. I tried to get a new over heat sensor but it is a tad expensive and i was told to try and find a cheaper alternative. By the capt of the household.
