Temp Guage

While installing new risers and manifold on my 351 ford (AQ240A Volvo) I broke the wire contact from the temperature sensor. After reappliying it I am getting no reading on my Temp Gauge. I tried to ground the wire to get some sort of reading but I am getting nothing. Is it normal to have an in line fuse for a temp gauge? And is there a way to check if the sensor is still working?

Thanks

What do you mean by "Reappliying it" ?
If all you did was break the end of the wire off is install a new crimp type ring connector. Or did you break the end off the sender?
If you did just replace the ring connector on the end of the wire, did you strip the wire first? You wouldn't believe how many times I have seen this happen.
You can also do an ohms test on the wire from the instrument to the sender. No continuity, there is a break in the wire somewhere.

Yes thats all that happened was I broke the end of the wire. I stripped it down and crimped the ring connector to it. I noticed a bit of rust or corrosion on the end of the wire, could "oxigard" deter it from reading properly?, I did apply some of that to the end of the wire to help prevent corrosion.
