temp issue 150 mariner

good evening everyone, need some advice on a 150 mariner, 1985 model. my temp runs about 1/2 way on gauge at idol and up to 3/4+ on gauge @ wot. the engine dosent appear to be hot, you can lay your hand on the heads their hot but not boiling or scorching i installed a new, temp sender for the warning system and its working if you ground it, the alarm sounds. new thermostats new waterpump, new poppet. i have a 200 degree melt stick and it dosent melt it. cant find sending unit for this motor. any ideas?

If the alarm horn works and not sounding and needle is not on H it not getting hot. This is the reason I hate guages as there is no set spec, cold at one side and hot on other and nothing in between and give false ideas of something wrong. Replace it with a water pressure guage ....my $.02

where do you install the gauge in a 1985 150 mariner no outlet
