Re: temp question

Yes and no. That is not too hot for that engine when it is in a car or truck. It does sound a touch hi for a boat, but not after a hot soak. If it occassionally hits that temp, no big deal. If it is constantly at that temp while at cruise speed, I would replace the thermostat. Either way, you are not harming the engine.

Re: temp question

There is no way that 170 is high for a marine engine...the temperature alarm sender unit is set for 210.

Go boating...and have a ball!

Happy boating!

Mine runs between 165 and 175 depending on water conditions.

Re: temp question

sorry to say I don't know, new to boating this year trying to learn as much as I can!!!! I have a good mechanical ability but its all on cars... I bought this boat used it seems to be very well maintained but I was probably going to change the thermostat and the water pump in the lower unit when I put her up for winter just for preventive maintenance. 170 in a car is nothing but I have friends that tell me there boats run colder that 170, it does not seem out of line to me but, just wasn't sure ???? thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!
