i have a 1993 mariner mag 3 150 hp and i had to replace the tempature sending unit and tempature guage. the sending unit is sits in a hole one on one of the heads. there was a gel or lubricant used to transfer the heat from the head to the sending. what is that gel or lubricant?

Thanks

Also i disabled the oil injection system, i want to keep the warning buzzer for over heat but it is put of the oil injection system warning module. is there a way to fake out the oil warning side of the module?

Thanks for the help

Re: temp sending unit

Jim, Normally that motor would have a temp warning sender on each head. They would be connected together on the starboard side of the motor, and run to a buzzer. I did not think they were part of the oil warning system. I never saw a Temp Gauge sender, on that motor. Is it an option?

Re: temp sending unit

you are right there is two sening units one is for the warning module and the other is for the guage. I had to replace the guage because it failed why i dont know. i just decided to replace the sending unit two just to be safe.
