hello all
i have a 120 force 96 what is the temp range , running open thank you

Your motor comes with a 130d thermo.
So it's supposed to open at that temp.

My 1988 125HP motor has a 130? thermostat. This past weekend with the water temperature at about 68?, the motor was running at 120? - 130? at WOT.

180* or above will set off the overheat alarm.

There is no standard WOT running temp except it has to be below 180 degrees which is the set point of the over temp sensor. This is because of all variable factors like water temp, water ports scaling, etc.

she's running about 145 wot no hotter ,then cools right down around 120 ,just put in thermo ,water pump and impeller, never had a o/b with temp guage , and who ever worked on it last removed the thermostat and never put it back in thank for the reply

Put it back. It's designed to run with one.
If it overheats with a thermo in it. Then the cooling passages might be clogging?
Does the overheat system work?
Test the buzzer?

I put a new one in , before it ran about 100deg. How do you test the buzzer , do you mean hook to 12 volts to check it or is there a system check idk if its working not over heating just wondering why they left it out ,just being overly careful

The sensor temp is tested by grounding it and it should go off. Anyways, the thermostat should just keep it warm and smooth running. A warm engine is desired for more efficient combustion compare to a cold one.

I am going to guess the thermostat you put in is 145*.
When I was looking at them those were a lot easier to find than the original 132* or whatever the original was.
