temperature question

1992 5.7 mercruiser bravo 2 drive
I just had an engine rebuild for an overheat problem. runs great temperature always around 175. two buddies same boat but a year and 2 years older, their temperature always aound 110. I am kinda scared about this temp thing as just cost a fortune to rebuild. a third friend has same boat and runs 175 like me. 2 out of 4 run 175 and the other two 110? what should it be and why...or who has the problem me or the guys running 110 (maybe bad gauge? or calibration?)

Maybe they have removed their thermostat? That sounds pretty low since most thermostats are 140-160 degrees for the boats I have seen.
