Terminating the gas oil injection

I have a 1993, 75 hp Mercury.

I'd like to disconnect the automatic oil injection to the gas and manually add the oil to my gas tank like the old days.

Is there a protocol/process for disconnecting the automatic oiler without ruining it (i.e., the metering system, etc.) in case I want to begin using it in the future?

Thanks, Scott

Re: Terminating the gas oil injection

Why do I want to disconnect the Oil Injection/Pre-Mix?

No reason to risk ruining a perfectly good engine if/when the Injection/Pre-Mix malfunctions (it is 19 yrs old) when you can simply pour a little oil in your gas when you gas up, and you're a 100% covered.

But, I don't want to ruin the Injection/Pre-Mix system pump, gear, etc. by just disconnecting and capping the oil lines; there's probably a little more to it.

get a hose long enough to circulate from the oil in to the oil out make sur its loaded with oil. Or take out the internal pump cylinder and load it with Litium grease to keep it from corroding. You will have to check this from time to time for corrosion. I have a spare pump on ebay you can buy lol if this messes up I wouln,t recommend it also your gonna haveto disconect the alarm system for the oil pump. It wil lbeep you to death if you don,t. Good luck rocknig that boat to keep the gas mixed well before seting out every trip!
