If this picture posts, can anyone identify what I'm looking at? I don't wish to be a pain in the neck with all these questions but I'm a newbi at powerboating and am trying to learn about my boat. The picture was taken from the front of the engine toward the transome facing aft. The power source is a mercruiser typeII. whatever this is, it is connected to the throttle by a push rod and cable and seems to be ducted to the intake manifold.

I think it's a flux capacitor. See if you can get the boat up to 88mph and get back to us. :D

Honestly I don't know. Somebody will though.
