I received my new coil yesterday so I tested it from the procedures I found on Youtube. With my VOM I tested the primary output by connecting the meter to the + & - posts on the coil. The specs I found said the Ohms should be between 0.2 and 1.0. the coil was .300 on the 200 scale. So the primary was within specs. Next I tested the secondary output by connecting to the negative post and to the plug wire tower on the coil and on the 2k scale the reading should be between 800-1100 Ohms....that tested 0. These were the same readings I got on the old coil I took off the outboard, which is why I ordered a new coil. So I've either got the wrong method to test the coils or the new Quick Silver one is defective. I seem to think more than likely I'm doing something wrong....could really use some help. I messaged the supplier Crowley Marine and asked them how they would test it and they said they don't know how to but they will refund in full the cost if that's what I want. Appreciate your time.....
