I pulled all my instruments out of my console due to them not working. I think they are the original on this 1998 Grumman Pontoon FS
To test them to see if they work at all can I just hook positive and negative wires from a battery to the G and I of each of the instruments.
I have a voltmeter, a trim meter and fuel one. I think the fuel is a no go cuz I don't have the sender unit with it just the instrument. Can I do the other two ?
Thanks
Mark

The fuel sender is in the gas tank. The trim gauge needs a sender as well and it is located on the engine. Just connecting + and - to the gauge does not make them work. The gauge must have the sender attached. The voltmeter does not have a sender because it is -- well -- a voltmeter. It just needs + and - and it tells you what the system voltage is.
