Testing electrical components in 1986 21 CC boat without engine installed

Hi, I don't have my motor (1982 Mercruiser 470) installed in my 1986 CC Renken boat quite yet. I have a strong deep cycle marine battery that I was wondering if I could hook up to the electrical plug (that normally plugs into the motor) to test some of the electrical accessories on the boat. Attached is a picture of my 8-pin connector. I was going to use my marine battery to test a couple of the center console components.
