I was recently given a 1960 Johnson model rsd 22 Serial # 2095997. The motor has been setting outside for a couple of years and the wiring from the starter to the external solenoid box was totally wasted from almost 50 years of exposure. Basically nothing but dust. I have replaced the bad wires, one at a time, as well as replacing the grounding strap inside the motor cover. The starter works great so I know I got that part right as well as having a good ground. The wiring from the switch to the Solenoid box was protected inside the boat and test out fine. The problem is I am not getting fire from the coils. I'm not sure how to test the switch, coils or any safety switches on the motor. I would be very thankful for any help with these issues as well as the resistance readings for the primary and secondary resistance readings I should have at the coils. Thanks Guys, pop528
