Testing Stainless Steel Mercruiser Risers

I have located a couple of the SS Mercruiser risers online. My engines are closed cooled Chevy 383 "strokers" with salt water only going through heat exchanger and out risers. I have heard complaints about ss risers leaking. Is there anyway to test them before putting on boat? Thx!

Test them just the same way you're test cast iron elbows... If they're good, you have a bargain...

inspect them with a bore scope on the inside where you cant see with a flashlight

fill them with acetone and look for leaks

they are nothing more than a 4" sanitary weld elbow around a 3 or 3-1/2" weld elbow with a bit of sheet metal and welding. not much too them really.
