Testing trolling motor

Hey guys I just got a used minn kota 24volt trolling motor and I wanted to know if theres a way to test it to see if it works. Its missing the foot pedal and I wasnt going to buy one unless it does. Looks like thats the only way to control it is by the pedal.

Don't buy it without a good pedal to test it with, famous method of selling a non-working trolling motor is with no pedal because when the pedal goes it takes the control board with it....which by the time you get a pedal and control board you might as well buy a new trolling motor.

I've looked at dozen of used trolling motors and it seems to be a common scheme to get rid of them, sometimes you get lucky though.
