" Texans come to Cape Ann
Texas sixth graders build two 24 foot sail boats while at Essex Museum!!!<br /><br />Sixty five boys and girls from the Episcopal School in Dallas participated in a two day hands on boat building project which they had to be done and launched by Saturday morning so that they could catch there 3:00pm flight home!!!<br /><br />Ten professioal wooden boat builders helped teach the kids to build the Sharptown barges!! One of the boat builders flew down to Texas a week ago to teach the kids the building basics of handling wood and tools. They practiced on wooden boxes!!<br /><br />And "Yes!!! the boats did float!!!" <br /><br />The boats will remain here in Essex and will be used by the Maritime Club an afterschool rowing program!!! <br /> "Congrulations to the KIDS!!!"
