thanks alot for the help guys...i did like you said and shifted the lower unit in neutral before installing and everything seems to be working fine now(including the new water pump i put in that was the original problem). so what was probably a 4 hour job turned into 3 days for me but again i appreciate your help. a great outboard education for this novice. thanks again.<br />Tony
