Last weekend i was kitesurfing Jamaica Bay off of Plumb Beach NY. I was about 1 mile offshore but way outside the boat channel. Gusts went to low 30's and my kite started to collapse as that was outside its wind range. I ended up being violently dragged more than halfway back to shore. I already had my hand on the emergency release but figured i should wait till i am closer to shore. Just then the wind calmed back down to a managable 25 mph. My board (very much like a wake board) was lost in the violence. I had no chance of dragging that far upwind without my board. I was ready to bit the bullet and accept the $700 loss. Just then a jetski was driving by about 50 or so feet upwind of me. He saw me wave to him and went to help me out. He tought i was drowning which was not the case. He then spent a good 10 minutes driving around looking for my board, found it and got it to me.

So if you are on this forum, THANK YOU!!!!!

Obviously, he was one of the considerate jet flea operators - the ones you don't hear too much about.;)

that's awesome. jet skiers and power boaters get a bad rap, especially on this forum, so its good to see a positive story
