So I bought a 1974 Ranger bass boat with a 140ho I/O. Yep an I/O in a bass boat.
Well, I knew it was going to be a project and the only issue was "Needs an ignition switch!" Lol, that was the least of my worries. Anyway, I started at the ignition switch and started working backwards. A few weeks later and the engine runs. All most every wire was replaced. Solenoids, coil, points, condenser, new cap etc. The fuel system was a mess, but adding fuel was easy since I could stand on the bow and see inside the tank! (rusted thru). The Carb was ridiculously gummed up and blocked. Took 2 days in an ultra sonic cleaner to get all the crud out. This was mostly due to the guys here that post, and the ones that reply.
Thank you, and know that this weekend you helped put a smile on a 11 year old boy. (and his daddy too)
