I pulled my impeller and cant remember if I saw the paper gasket on it. I see two o rings. One large one and one small one. The impeller kit the store sold me was the wrong one but I did see that it came with a paper gasket. These gasket are really thin and on a few videos online it appears that some raw water impeller housing are just brass on brass with the o ring making the seal. Is this gasket important to use?
I know it sounds a little bit weird, but when buying a thermostat, the shop guys said that the gasket was not needed either and that the rubber gasket around the thermostat would make the seal. I did buy a gasket for it and used it.
The experience has left me wondering if there are some things that dont require a gasket.

Looks like the kit comes with a bunch of paper gaskets that are for other applications. From what I could tell, my impeller housing does not need a gasket and seals with just the o rings.
