We took the Falcon up north this past week camping, had some great weather and got to meet some nice people all because of the old tub. I had went out fishing by myself one afternoon, came in to beach the boat by the campground and there was an older couple in a pontoon boat parked next to me. They came over to tell me how much they loved the boat and how many memories it brought back for them on how all the boats used to be. On another day I was crusing down the lake and looked to my right and saw another old Starcraft running along with me but out a few hundred yards, gave them a wave but was unsure they where checking me out like I was them, but I got an instant wave back. Just something really cool about running these old tin cans.

I agree that owning a Starcraft is a really good way to meet folks. The Lake where we keep ours (mine) is full of folks that come up to see the boat and to tell me stories of old Starcrafts they owned. One guy had some good tales to tell of his old Rivera. :)

I agree CB...I've only had the SS out to a few different lakes but I've gotten all sorts of compliments on the old rig(even though it is two years younger than me).

Folks love old boats and it's easy to see why.:D

I love aluminum boats, because you don't have to worry about their scrap value. Unless you smash 'em flat or let saltwater eat 'em up, they can last forever.

I agree Motor...the thought of scrapping a classic aluminum boat is unbearable.

My grandpa-in-law gave away a 16' Lonestar that was a real gem and is neighbor scrapped it. He's told me countless times that he wishes he'd given it to me to restore.

I'm just glad there are so many around to restore, not enough time though.:D

you got me thinking....one of the things the previous owner of my boat, 80+ yr old former fighter pilot w/o much time left on this planet, told his son after the sale was how happy they were that she was going to a good home.

my Lone Star is a good solid boat but i don't feel love for it like i do this one.

I was hoping that was the case...:D

The Lonestars are good boats...I almost bought one that a guy advertised as a Starcraft but passed after further analysis.

I think he realized that Starcrafts are more sought after and just wanted it gone so he kept listing it even after I told him it was no Starcraft.:)
